Year – 2009 Character – Malachy Director – Daragh Carville Other Cast Robert Sheenan, Kimberley Nixon, James Nesbitt Plot Cherrybomb follows teenagers Luke (Robert Sheehan), Malachy (Rupert Grint), and Michelle (Kimberley Nixon) as they embark on a wild weekend of drink, drugs, shop-lifting and stealing cars. But what starts out as a game turns deadly serious when the three discover that they can’t get off the wild ride they’ve set in motion.
With their exams over, best friends Malachy and Luke are out to have one hell of a summer. However, the arrival of Michelle, a captivating but troubled beauty, tests their friendship to the limit as she encourages the two boys to carry out increasingly dangerous and illegal deeds in the battle for her affections – with fatal consequences.
In Cherrybomb, a film a step away from anything Rupert’s ever been in before, Rupert plays Malachy, a bored teenager in North Ireland. He works at the local fitness club with best friend Luke, and with the arrival of their boss’ daughter Michelle, the pair are in for one hell of a wild weekend as they “compete” for Michelle’s affections. From anything to drugs, booze and (in Malachy’s case) sex, Malachy & Luke’s friendship is put to the test to see who will get the girl. However their “game” goes too far, as the pair are arrested after fatal consequences.
