Year – 2009 Character – Ron Weasley Director – David Yates Other Cast Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Tom Felton, Jim Broadbent, Michael Gambon, Alan Rickman Plot In Harry Potter’s sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft, Harry finds a book marked mysteriously, “This book is the property of the Half Blood Prince,” which helps him excel at Potions class and teaches him a few dark and dangerous ones along the way. Meanwhile, Harry is taking private lessons with Dumbledore in order to find out about Voldemort’s past so they can find out what might his only weakness, and Harry is determined to find out what that Draco Malfoy is up to.
Ron’s sixth year proves to be eventful as he finds himself Keeper on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. A good keeper, Ron suffers from nerves and isn’t very confident with his game. Before his debut, Harry “slips” Ron some luck potion, and Ron performs brilliantly. As it turns out, Harry never gave him anything, and it was all Ron’s own doing. His performance lands him an admirer and girlfriend, Lavender Brown. Hermione despises Lavender (and secretly fancies Ron – whether or not she realises it yet), and the two have a falling out. Ron eventually becomes sick of Lavender, and confesses this to Harry on the train ride home for Christmas. Ron’s Christmas is tragic, as his family home is burnt down by Death Eaters (an event which is film exclusive and does not occur in the book).
Ron’s big year continues as he accidentally eats chocolates filled with love potion and falls “in love” with a girl names Romilda Vane. He’s quickly cured by the new potions teacher, Slughorn, but accidentally poisoned by a glass of mede. This causes Hermione to reconcile with Ron, and after Ron mumbles Hermione’s name in his sleep, breaks up with Lavender. Throught the film, Ron also has to come to terms with his sister dating Dean Thomas, and his hatred of Dean on the grounds that he’s dating his sister (much to Harry’s dismay, as Harry fancies Ginny). The film takes a dark twist, however, as the headmaster Dumbledore is murdered and Harry tells Ron of his mission and about Horcruxes. We see Ron sticking by Harry and supporting him, and after finding out about Harry’s kiss with Ginny, approves of their relationship.
